![]() Islay Energy Trust (IET) is a community owned organisation that aims to develop renewable energy projects for the benefit of the community whilst reducing Islay’s carbon footprint. Its overall aim is to develop renewable energy projects for the benefit of the community whilst reducing Islay’s carbon footprint. IET’s charitable objectives can be summarized as follows: to promote the voluntary sector; to advance environmental protection by promoting more efficient use of resources; to advance education in relation to energy matters; to relieve unemployment; to prevent or relieve fuel poverty; and to promote, support and/or operate other projects and activities which further charitable purposes for the benefit of the community. IET is managed by a board of trustees. The Trustees are elected by IET members. Anyone over the age of 17 who lives or has property on Islay can become a voting member of IET.
